Level 6 Creative Studio: Water Animation

This is my water animation I was supposed to finish ages ago. It is a little creature falling into the water and its freaking out but as it continues floating through it just gives up and doesn't care. I tried to use the squash and stretch to make the animation look more appealing. I did have other ideas for this animation but I felt like this idea would be cute and entertaining. My first idea was to make really simple and quite boring- a fish swimming through the water. Second idea was quite similar- a mermaid......so in the end I thought a weird small creature would be better.

Level 6: Creative Studio - Exquisite Corpse UPDATE

Ok so screw the rest of my old ideas, I did a last minute idea and I think it really captures my animations creepy theme. Special thanks to Ethan for motivating and helping me. I kept trying to make everything perfect but I had to keep reminding myself that it does not have to be. My new idea is that my character looks around and because I wanted to stick to my creepy theme, their eyeball floats off their face and while it expands, my character starts to melt and becomes the water while the eyeball becomes the lantern.

Level 6 Creative Studio - Exquisite Corpse

We have been given the task of animating a Exquisite Corpse animation. Phoenix has given me her drawing for me to animate.

I'm a bit worried cause mine is the complete opposite of hers..........

............

However this will be interesting to see what the transition will be. I have jotted down some ideas for what could happen. Because mine is a bit spooky I was thinking perhaps the animation will show my character opening its mouth and it will zoom in and there could something glowing inside. The closer it zooms in the entire screen will turn black and now its focused on the glow ball. It will then float around a bit and then.........and then I'm kinda lost from there....but I have gotten ideas from classmates. For example the camera will pan down to my characters hands and they will throw the lantern in the air, then it will transition into Phoenix's drawing.
Another one is that my character will look to the side and they will get hit by a wave and then it will transition into the drawing. But we will see what happens.

Level 6: Creative Studio

I'm still having a hard time figuring out what I want to do for my discipline however me and other students went to see a Japanese animator Mirai Mizue. He creates abstract animation. I really enjoyed his work and it has really inspired me and I think I would like to create an abstract type animation for my work. I don't have a clear idea of what I would like to do but Mizue definitely has inspired me.

Friend Animaton

For this task we had to pair up with another classmate and write down a quick brief of our memorable childhood memory. We then swapped our briefs with each other and then we had to animate their memory. My friend explained in her brief that she loved taking nightly strolls through the cemetery with her family. She felt calm and relaxed there so i tried to animate it through her youthful and childlike eyes. I know that she likes spooky things so I made everything kinda grey scale and just tried to capture the spookyness. I hope she likes it XD.

Trans-disciplinary Exercise- Perceiving

Today Dane gave us the task of eating "unusual" foods and then to animate that taste. But not just taste it. We had to really think about it like how does it feel? What do you immediately think when it hits your tongue.....or something like that. This was a very funny and interesting exercise and I tried to get my brain and taste buds going. I tried a dried up Mandarin skin. In my animation, it starts off with a blob spinning around. I'm trying to show that the smell already is very strong and kinda had my head buzzing because of its overwhelming aroma. Once it touched my tongue immediately a powerful taste just bursted out like.......POW!!! I tried to make it kinda abstract.......did I succeed in that?
I do think I should have added more colours to this but all I could think of at the moment was orange. Maybe I even could have some swirls or waves going around the blob so it was a bit more interesting but oh well I'll try and do a better job for the next one.

Anyways I hope this makes sense. XD

Shot 10 clean up final

I have finally finished the shot and I hope my team likes it and I hopefully our animation all comes together. Still don't know how to make a quicktime or swf file but here is just a little look of the final shot......

I'M SO TIRED!

Shot 10 clean up finishing touches

So I'm almost done and I'm extremely tired but anyways I went through the shot more closely and realised there are quite a few messy lines so I just went back and cleaned those up. It has been a bit of a challenge these past few days because for some reason my flash is acting very weird and playing up so using the brush tool has been quite difficult. The pencil tool is not my favourite but I tried to get looking as good as possible.

Here are just some errors and some of the things I cleaned up and tried to place in the correct position.

Shot 10 update clean up

Forgot to mention that i fixed the frame that was accidentally copied.  I'm having a bit of trouble trying to do the in between but I'm gonna try do my best. Just a bit tricky since the movement changes a bit drastically....maybe its just me. (Don't judge me I'm new to this!!). XD

shot 10 clean up another update

Forgot how to make file into a quicktime file to show how the movement is looking but so far I think its flowing quite well.

Clean up shot 10- little mistake

Ok so after going scanning through the shot I have discovered that two shots were exactly the same......

Kinda hard to see but basically the shot looks like shes kinda twitching.
Also a bit hard to see the outline but this frame should look like the rough drawing, I'll need to fix that so she doesn't look like shes spazzing XD

Clean up mistake

So unfortunately I kinda had to start over again, kinda a good thing i didn't save the the file.......but then I mucked it up again and had to Ctrl+Z practically the whole time but alas I have fixed and its slowly progressing and we are getting somewhere.

Clean up update

I just realised after cleaning up quite a few shots that I was a genius and accidentally moved and deleted some frames.....

Shot 10 clean up

Haven't updated in AGES but I'm cleaning up shot 10 for my group's animation. In this scene our bride reaches out to her husband as a sign to calm down (everything will be alright).
One of my team members were very kind and drew in a couple of clean shots as sort of guide for me to follow.

In between arms

Forgot to post this ages ago but here is a clip of the in-betweening I did on the arms for my group animation. The girl is playing the piano. Looks a bit odd cause there is no chair or piano but bare with me. XD

Rough Animation

I made a rough animation of the bride playing the piano. Just some movements of the arms and wrists. My team member Phoenix helped me work out how the wrists would move. I tried to make her look like shes playing a soft gentle song. Below are just some screenshots of the animation.
