Level 6: Production: Interactive- Starting unti

So I finished my stuff. I didn't know how to show the animation in a video file or gif file so lets just pretend you can picture it glowing XD

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Photoshop animation

Now I'm animating the asteroid. This is the first time I've animated in photoshop. Theres actually not a lot of video tutorials for animating in photoshop but luckily I was able to find 2 good ones. I actually got it completely wrong on my first go and it was such a mess. I forgot to take a screenshot though so you can't see the mess I made XD.

............I actually don't know whats happening right now......xD

Ok so I finally got the gist of what I'm doing now and here I'm just putting everything into the right position.

I'm making my asteroid glow but I don't have Flash, Animate or After effects and also I'm completely useless in After Effects so I decided that this would be a lot easier to do in Photoshop.

Now its done and I'm just adjusting the time/length of the animation.

Then I made it into a sprite sheet/script(?)
I did this by following the tutorials on moodle and going onto johnwordsworth.com and followed these instructions...
It looked really confusing when I first looked at it lol but you just literally download the file, open it and just simply do what the photo shows. And thats how I got my sprite sheet.

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Asteroid progress

Here I started off with a basic crooked shape, I did this by holding down shift and and drawing lines so I could get straight lines. I don't know if theres a simpler way to do this but this is what I decided to do at the moment.

Next I used the lasso tool to outline the side of my asteroid and added a darker colour for a shadow so it had more.....depth? lol i dunno, im trying to use fancy words. I just wanted it to look better XD. (I guess I could also use the lasso tool in the first place to create my asteroid anyways but oh well)

After that I drew a few purple circles on it to make the crates, I made the one on the side darker because of the shadow.

Then I used the lasso tool again to make little details on it and painted it a darker brown.

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Concepts

Ok...........I was actually pretty proud of my first concept and I thought it looked really good but once again I remembered that our art style is very simple so I made another one and realised how bad the first one was so obviously the second one was a winner. This is an asteroid by the way if you cant tell lol. I gave it purple crates so it looked more appealing and I felt like if the whole thing were just shades of brown it would look so dull and boring and also not work well with my groups environment. So anyways these are my concepts. I'll be posting my progress of how I made it in the my next post.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

Oh man I forgot to post these ages ago......(i always forget........). This was the first stage of creating my asset. I chose to make an asteroid for our space level. I'm simple experimenting with different shapes outlines and styles. My first asteroid was really detailed but I kept forgetting that my groups art style is very simple, so then I just tried different looks.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

This was the final task for the little cloud we made. The aim for this was to make falling balls bounce of the rainbow. One of my clouds wiggles as well.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

For this task we created a sprite. It is basically a 2D object. This is a cloud.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

Next task- playing with lights again. For this we added a directional light to the scene. This looks a lot more spooky but looks very cool.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

Here we added a reflection light to the metallic ball. If you look back at my previous post you can see the difference and how more appealing this looks compared to the other one.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

This task we another object to the skybox with a neon green light. Just experimenting with lights again. The tiny balls surrounding the inside of the box are there to show how the light only reflects inside of the skybox. I had a bit of a problem with this task because one of the balls wouldn't exactly snap to the corners of the box but it worked out in the end.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

In this task we duplicated the ball we had in our skybox and added to texture to it. I also forgot to mention that in our earlier tasks we made the ball bounce. Unfortunately I don't how to show it so your gonna just have to imagine it (lol). I think the ball without the texture was able to bounce on top of the metallic one but I think that was a error and I was supposed to enlarge the skybox so both balls could have even space for a better example.

Level 6: Production: Interactive

Next task I think we were playing around with the background again but my scene kept crashing and for some reason the light we'rent working for me.

Level 6: Production: Interactive,

Again we have been playing around with the tools in unity and it is back to its original background....

Level 6: Production: Interactive

Here we were playing around with the backgrounds and lights. This scene looks like a scary dream.....

Level 6: Production: Interactive

For this task I believe we were just starting out the basics of unity and experimenting with the tools in the program to later help us create objects for our group game project. Here we are experimenting with the background and a skybox. I used this background because I like the earth tones and  and how mellow it made the environment appeared

Level 6: Creative Studio: Draft & Journal Notes

Level 6: Creative Studio: Abstracting

For this we were tasked with creating a creature from our chosen discipline. My discipline is cosplay. The shell on the creature represents how most cosplayers start out very shy when they first cosplay. The wonky hair represents the beginners stage of wig styling and its little body represents the beginners stage of creating their first costume however its determined face shows the determination of the cosplayers and how they wont give up. Once transformed the creature becomes bigger and stronger. The hair is now looking sharp which represents the cosplayer has 'upped' their wig styling. Their body is stronger and bigger which represents the cosplayer has improved their costume making.

The creature's abilities are staying cool, great confidence and stealth. They may look strange but they are friendly and kind to others and though it still has great confidence it still remains a shy turtle.

Transdisciplinary thinking

So I've been really confused about this project for a while but I feel I have a better idea about it.
As I've said my secondary discipline I've chosen is Cosplay and more specifically about breaking the cosplay stereotype.
In some cases cosplay is displayed in a negative light and even suggested as a sign of mental illness. I wanted to that cosplay is just a hobby some people are passionate about and enjoy and in the end it does not matter whether a man is cosplaying as a woman or vice versa, everyone is the same.
As for the people who enjoy the hobby, I want to show that every time they cosplay they do feel like they become a different person a different person but again in the end they are still the same as everyone else.

Level 6 Creative Studio: Water Animation

This is my water animation I was supposed to finish ages ago. It is a little creature falling into the water and its freaking out but as it continues floating through it just gives up and doesn't care. I tried to use the squash and stretch to make the animation look more appealing. I did have other ideas for this animation but I felt like this idea would be cute and entertaining. My first idea was to make really simple and quite boring- a fish swimming through the water. Second idea was quite similar- a mermaid......so in the end I thought a weird small creature would be better.

Level 6: Creative Studio : Synthesizing

For this task we had to combine to transdisciplinary thinking activities together. I chose to put the creature exercise and the memory exercise together. The point of this task was to show how society works well together.

In this drawing is a child tree creature. i chose to combine these two exercises together for a personal reason. As a child I remember fun times playing outside with my friends, family members and even by myself. These days you don't see much kids outdoors. I think society works well together when everyone is outdoors playing around, being active or interacting with new people instead of being glued to their mobile devices or technology, yes there are social media websites that do the same thing but hey thats just me.

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Final Hollow Mon

I chose to make this creature the final Hollow Mon because I really like how CREEPY this dude looks and like the misty looking smoke that surrounds him. I'm pretty sure he'll creep anyone out.

Level 6: Creative Studio - Exquisite Corpse UPDATE

Ok so screw the rest of my old ideas, I did a last minute idea and I think it really captures my animations creepy theme. Special thanks to Ethan for motivating and helping me. I kept trying to make everything perfect but I had to keep reminding myself that it does not have to be. My new idea is that my character looks around and because I wanted to stick to my creepy theme, their eyeball floats off their face and while it expands, my character starts to melt and becomes the water while the eyeball becomes the lantern.

Level 6: Creative Studio: Modelling

For this task we were supposed to try and draw the concept of time? And apply it with history...I didn't really know what to do so I decided to something about toys or how children's entertainment definitely has changed.....if that makes sense.....I'm sure heaps of people have done this already but this is what I did. I feel like kids standards in toys throughout history and especially in today's society have definitely gotten very high. It seems like children these days would want to spend their time cooped up at home on their brand new iPhone or smartphone instead of going outside and playing hopscotch or simply going out to play tag.

In my drawing I'm trying to show how all these fun and joyful things have pretty much faded away because of these new and advance technology. Don't get me wrong I do happen to be too lazy to go outside and go for a walk but hey if my friends asked me to go outside and play hopscotch or tag hells yeah I'll join along XD.

Work

I'm struggling..................so much work............................................too much sTResss.........................................................HELP ME!!!!!

Level 6 Creative Studio - Exquisite Corpse

We have been given the task of animating a Exquisite Corpse animation. Phoenix has given me her drawing for me to animate.

I'm a bit worried cause mine is the complete opposite of hers..........

............

However this will be interesting to see what the transition will be. I have jotted down some ideas for what could happen. Because mine is a bit spooky I was thinking perhaps the animation will show my character opening its mouth and it will zoom in and there could something glowing inside. The closer it zooms in the entire screen will turn black and now its focused on the glow ball. It will then float around a bit and then.........and then I'm kinda lost from there....but I have gotten ideas from classmates. For example the camera will pan down to my characters hands and they will throw the lantern in the air, then it will transition into Phoenix's drawing.
Another one is that my character will look to the side and they will get hit by a wave and then it will transition into the drawing. But we will see what happens.

Level 6: Creative Studio

I'm still having a hard time figuring out what I want to do for my discipline however me and other students went to see a Japanese animator Mirai Mizue. He creates abstract animation. I really enjoyed his work and it has really inspired me and I think I would like to create an abstract type animation for my work. I don't have a clear idea of what I would like to do but Mizue definitely has inspired me.
