These are just some more of my concept designs. For the background Oscar thought it would be more easier and better for the player if the environment/ world was played horizontally instead of vertical. Its basically the same backgrounds as before but I think I was able to make it look a lot better than last time. We all agreed because we are working on one level for now that we should stick to the Underworld. Then I did a few more monsters and just tried to make them look creepy as possible. I really like the first monster, I was thinking of shadow entities and just drew what came to mind.

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Background Concepts
This is some background concepts for the backgrounds I had to create. I was given the underworld and underwater backgrounds to do. I actually found this to be a bit difficult, I couldn't think of any unique concepts but I tried my best. The underworld wasn't the best, it basically looked like a bat cave XD. The underwater background was also a struggle, the rocks at the bottom were supposed to represent the bottom of the ocean showing how dark and creepy it is and once the main character reaches the top the background gets brighter and more lively.
Level 6: Production: Interactive- Spirit and Monster Concepts
My group all decided that we would all take elements from each others work and mash it all into one. We used the initial idea from Oscar's game that he has been working on for a while.
The main character of the game is a soul who can't remember their previous life and is on search for their unknown body. Oscar was very generous and let the group come with different designs for the characters letting us use any gender and age we wanted. This was really cool cause it let me explore a lot of different beings for this character.
For the spirit character obviously I started off with a ghostly appearance with a genie like tail. I still wanted to play with the horror theme so I tried to make the next few characters have a real spooky vibe to them. I remembered that Oscar wanted to incorporate masks with the main character so they could remain genderless so I tried making them look spooky but also child like.
For the hollowmon I just literally started scribbling until I could see some type of shape forming. The top third monster to the right is the creepiest to me out of all of them, I used squiggly and jagged strokes to help create its weird figure.

Level 6: Production: Interactive- Concepts Horror Theme
Its been a while since I posted something for this subject sorry but for this task my class got into groups and re-skin a video game made by last years students. My first idea was a horror themed game because it is one of my favourite genres.
The basic plot for my horror game is about a young high school student who is obsessed about being a top student, in order for him to stay at the top of the class he goes crazy over power and decides to slaughter his entire class so no one can beat him. (I was kinda cranky the morning I wrote this so........yeah XD).
My first thought was to make it anime style because thats the style I mostly enjoy using but because my group is going to be animating this soon I decided to draw some more simpler and different art styles. The main character is very smart and psychotic. I tried to draw different personalities for him as well like moody/angst-y, stoic, and looney. I also drew him looking not too threatening but more laughable. I also tried to explore different uniforms like more preppy looking and traditional japanese.

Trans-disciplinary
Last week my tutor went around the whole class to discuss what topic we chose for our creative brief/animation. I have decided that my topic would be about Cosplay because it is something I'm really passionate about. At first I thought I'd look like a mega weaboo but my tutor was surprisingly chill about it. The main problem with this topic though is trying to find the middle between animation and cosplay. I am a bit stuck on what to animate for the topic because I don't want it to be really obvious (does that make sense? Are you understanding what I'm saying??). Though we did talk about the how cosplay effects people -it makes them happy, they feel awesome because they've made something that they've been working on for ages, they can be whoever the want.-This led to identity with cosplay, I'm kinda leading a lot towards that mainly because I can't think of anything right now........But I need to do A LOT more research on it.

Friend Animaton
For this task we had to pair up with another classmate and write down a quick brief of our memorable childhood memory. We then swapped our briefs with each other and then we had to animate their memory. My friend explained in her brief that she loved taking nightly strolls through the cemetery with her family. She felt calm and relaxed there so i tried to animate it through her youthful and childlike eyes. I know that she likes spooky things so I made everything kinda grey scale and just tried to capture the spookyness. I hope she likes it XD.

Comic Remix
For this task we had to create a comic remix. For mine I tried to make a parody out of the serious situation that is happening in this scene. In the scene a class is being held hostage by a group of evil henchman. In my scene even though there is something serious happening I tried to make it really lighthearted in a way, and tried to make it funny and entertaining. I cut out a character and added my own text.

Poster
For this task my team-Team Yaoi were given the task from another group to create a poster for the new Reptar toy.
Hypertext
For this, my class had to make a cursed object and a steampunk object. The first image is my cursed object. It is a cursed/possessed demon glove. Once the person/player puts it on they will immediately be cursed with a demon arm. The glove forma a bond with the owner and work with the owner but sometimes has a mind of its own. The curse cannot be broken and the only way to get rid of it is for the owner of it to die and then the glove waits for its next owner to come around so the curse goes on and on.
Attack: 40
Defence: 30
Speed: 30
This is my steampunk object. I said before in my earlier blog post that I incorporated this with my tome. The giant speaker looking things are made to listen into enemies conversations from and VERY far distance. It has little gadgets and and buttons to adjust the volume and levels. The goggles help to see things from a VERY far distance and also has night vision. The tinier glasses are for extra zooming in. And of course, the helmet is just for protection. I wanted to make this as goofy looking as possible as well just to add a little humour in contrast to the tome I made just to make it more lighthearted. This device is used against enemies to scope out where they are and to listen in to their plans.
Tome
My class was tasked to make a tome for a video game. We had to think about who is writing it? What era is the message from? Is the person writing this dead or alive? And so on and so on. The first thing I thought was to make the message based in a really old era. I actually incorporated this with another task we had to do which was to make a steampunk invention so a really old steampunk era is what I was aiming for. The idea for this is that a deceased mother wrote her daughter (or player) a letter a explaining the decisions she made to protect her. I hope it's not TOO corny/cheesy/cliche but I just wanted to make something sweet and sad. Sorry about the writing, I tried to make it look like the mother was in a rush to write it as if the enemies were close to getting her. It also helped that I have really horrible hand writing XD.
If you can't read it, it says "My dearest Bell, it breaks my heart for you to find out this way but please understand I did this to protect you. It is true that I did abandoned you but I knew that I would be followed and that we both would be killed once I was captured. To give up was the was the hardest decision I had to make and I only pray that you can forgive me. I know that when each day goes by that you will grow and become wiser and stronger just like your father. Please know that I will always love you and I hope you can forgive me."

Trans-disciplinary Exercise- Perceiving
Today Dane gave us the task of eating "unusual" foods and then to animate that taste. But not just taste it. We had to really think about it like how does it feel? What do you immediately think when it hits your tongue.....or something like that. This was a very funny and interesting exercise and I tried to get my brain and taste buds going. I tried a dried up Mandarin skin. In my animation, it starts off with a blob spinning around. I'm trying to show that the smell already is very strong and kinda had my head buzzing because of its overwhelming aroma. Once it touched my tongue immediately a powerful taste just bursted out like.......POW!!! I tried to make it kinda abstract.......did I succeed in that?
Anyways I hope this makes sense. XD
